The Building Regulations in England and Wales require replacement windows to either have a window energy rating of C or higher or a U Value of 1.6W/m2K or less. The Window Energy Rating scheme provides a straightforward method for manufacturers to demonstrate the energy performance of their window, and in turn show compliance with this requirement.
Taking into account heat loss from the window through thermal transmittance (U-value) and air leakage, together with heat gained from the sun (G-Value or solar gain), and gives A to G ratings for windows in a clear and widely recognised format.
BM TRADA Certification is approved as an Independent Agency for the British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC), and provides window energy ratings in conjunction with this scheme.
Air permeability testing, Thermal modelling, U-Value calculations and Door Energy Rating calculations can also be provided.
