The Enhanced Security Q-Mark schemes for doors and windows were introduced to support the testing requirements for Secured By Design (SBD), the police initiative to reduce crime on housing developments by incorporating crime prevention measures at the design stage.
Windows - BS 7950 'Enhanced security test for tilt/turn window assemblies', plus material specific test standard (e.g. BS 7412, BS644, BS6510, BS 4873).
Certification is a current requirement for ground floor windows in SBD developments. Third-party certification provides the assurance that the windows/doorsets installed on site meet the same high standards as those tested and therefore offer the same protection.
