The Building Regulations in England and Wales contain a requirement for replacement windows and doors to meet a number of different criteria. However, demonstrating compliance and providing notification to Local Authority Building Control (LABC) for each installation can be both costly and time consuming.
Becoming a member of the BM TRADA Certification Competent Persons Scheme for Replacement Windows and Doors enables you to demonstrate compliance with the Building Regulations in a simple and cost effective way. We have recently extended our scheme to cover non-dwellings, enabling you to have the added benefit of registering your commercial installations through us.
What the BM TRADA Certification Competent Persons Scheme aims to achieve
The scheme aims to achieve the following:
- Checks that an installer or organisation is able to comply with the Building Regulations
- Provides a means for installers and organisations to declare compliance for each installation
- Provides a simple and cost effective mechanism to notify all installations to LABC
- Demonstrates compliance with the Building Regulations to end users by providing declarations of compliance for installations
- Provides peace of mind that the organisation or installer is suitably qualified and that their work is checked by an independent body
- Raises the on-going standard of replacement window and door installation
- Is approved by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG)
