Timber Expo success for Chiltern International Fire

Timber Expo generated widespread interest in Chiltern International Fire’s range of services, from architects, health professionals, local authorities, universities, contractors and manufacturers, according to Deputy Technical Manager Mark Cummings.

With more than 35 years’ experience, Chiltern International Fire is one of Europe’s leading authorities on fire. Mr Cummings said, ‘Demand for training, particularly relating to fire door installation and maintenance, is being driven by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. This was clearly reflected in discussions we had at the show, with manufacturers, installers and designers, predominantly about fire doors and other passive fire protection (PFP) products.’

The RRFSO requires building owners and operators to carry out a fire risk assessment, reinforcing the need for well specified and correctly installed PFP products. ’There was a strong demand for our Fire Doors Explained and Passive Fire Protection Explained training days, both of which now carry CPD status,’ Mr Cummings added. ‘Clients and contractors are anxious to ensure that fire doors and other PFP products are correctly specified and installed, as enforcement of the RRFSO is quick to highlight deficiencies.’

CIF Senior Consultant Peter Barker delivered a seminar, ‘Passive Fire Protection Explained’, on both days of the show, looking at types of products, their uses and correct methods of installation. The short presentation was based on CIF’s one-day Passive Fire Protection Explained training course which next takes place on 27th October 2011.

Timber Expo 2011, backed by sister company TRADA Technology, has been widely praised by visitors and exhibitors. The 2012 event will take place at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 25th & 26th September and the show is already 40% sold. Visit www.timber-expo.co.uk.
