TI-1004: Fire Resistance - Service Penetration Seals Testing

Chiltern International Fire (CIF) has published a new Technical Information Sheet on pipe penetration seals. TI-1004 Fire Resistance – Service Penetration Seals Testing provides a quick reference guide to both test requirements and the route to CE marking.

To deliver essential services such as gas, electricity and water to a building, cables and pipes have to pass through walls, ceilings and floors, many of which are required to be fire resistant structures. Fire-stopping products or ‘penetration seals’ have been developed to maintain fire integrity after services have been installed. The BS EN 1366-3:2009 European fire test standard, published in 2009, is not only a detailed method of testing penetration seals, but also provides for CE marking.

As a Notified Body, Chiltern International Fire can assist with both testing and CE marking requirements.
