Since it went live on 1st July 2011, the BM TRADA Certification Competent Persons Scheme (CPS) has attracted almost daily sign-ups and the first 10 companies will be fully certified by the end of the month.
Product Certification Manager Simon Beer said, ‘The feedback from installers has been extremely positive. They are finding our system easy to use and processing is fast and efficient. We have also been commended for the quality of documentation given to their customers.’
The scheme, covering the installation of replacement windows and doors in both dwellings and non-dwellings, is authorised by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG). BM TRADA will vet installers and supply certificates of Building Regulations compliance to end users, notifying Local Authority Building Control of each installation.
Mr Beer is confident that the scheme will continue to gather momentum. ‘We have launched it to a small audience initially and the take-up has been even better than we anticipated. ‘
