Chiltern International Fire played host this month to a delegation from Norway, led by the Chief Fire Officer of Larvik, a city and municipality in Vestfold County, Norway. The visit was part of a programme organised by the Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) to enable members of all three emergency services in Larvik to see how their counterparts in Buckinghamshire run their emergency services.
Darryl Keen , Area Manager Operational Support of BFRS, said, ‘There is a close working relationship between our Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive, Mark Jones, and the Larvik CFO. We were delighted to show our visitors the excellent capabilities that we have to support people who live, travel and work in and around Buckinghamshire.’
The programme included visits to Thames Valley Police HQ in Kidlington and Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Ambulance Station, as well as demonstrations by BFRS of wide range of resources including the Urban Search and Rescue Team based at Aylesbury, the command training facility at Marlow and Chiltern International Fire’s live fire training facility extensively used by BFRS.
At CIF, the Norwegian guests were able to view the residential fire facility and BA complex used in training for property fires, together with a live demonstration of fire flash-over and gas cooling techniques in the demonstrator fire behaviour training unit, all on site.
