Fire doors for the health sector - Chiltern International Fire highlights special needs

Chiltern International Fire (CIF) has published a free Technical Information Sheet TI-1014: Fire doors for the Health Sector, to assist manufacturers, facilities managers and specifiers to understand the fire safety challenges of the health sector.

CIF Senior Consultant, Peter Barker, said, 'Hospitals have a duty of care to safeguard patients with a wide range of dependencies, so fire doorsets may need to perform an additional function, perhaps reducing the risk of infection and/or enhancing security. But the doorset must also fulfil its primary aim, to provide protection in terms of fire resistance and, critically, compartmentation.’
