Forest Hall Joinery has achieved the BM TRADA Q-Mark for Enhanced Security Windows with its Ecotilt softwood sliding sash window, working closely with hardware manufacturer Mighton Products Ltd. This means that the window has passed BS7950 – ‘Specification for enhanced security performance of windows for domestic applications’ and, by achieving Q-Mark, it has also been able to gain Secured By Design accreditation.
Forest Hall Joinery, established in Hertfordshire more than 25 years ago, has built up a loyal customer base in the local area. However, as Managing Director Reg Bishop said, ‘The Ecotilt window is the only vertical sliding sash window in the UK to be offered with these enhanced security credentials, so we are now taking orders from customers nationwide.’
Forest Hall Joinery has, in addition, achieved BFRC A, B and C window energy ratings for the window with BM TRADA. Mr Bishop added, ‘This enables us to meet customers’ demands for an energy efficient product as well as a window with enhanced security performance.’ He paid tribute to Mighton Products for their innovative approach to hardware design and window development. ‘Their support has been invaluable to us in proving the performance of a softwood window, something the industry did not believe could be done.’
Mr Bishop will join BM TRADA for a certificate presentation at Interbuild on 27th October.
