Chiltern International Fire's Responsible Person seminar is a winner

What is the Responsible Person responsible for?

Forty delegates attending a free half-day seminar, organised recently by Chiltern International Fire (CIF) on  Fire Protection Measures – Understanding Your Responsibilities, gave the event a resounding thumbs up.

The seminar, held recently in Bristol, aimed to raise awareness of people's responsibilities under the RRFSO (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order), and attracted representatives from a varied field including MoD fire officers, estate managers, local authority  and fire risk assessors.

Guest speakers included specialists from the Association for Specialist Fire Protection; the Fire Protection Association and national law firm Browne Jacobsen.

CIF consultant, Peter Barker said: “The focus was on three primary areas - passive fire protection – the fire safety measures built in to a structure – the importance of competent fire risk assessors and to consider the benefits of third party certification with respect to products and personnel.

“Feedback was really positive, and several delegates found the half-day seminar easier to fit in their working week, whilst still providing the information they needed.”

One delegate, Steve Goodburn, Sales Director from CGI International, Haydock, said : “As a manufacturer supplying the construction market with Fire Glass Solutions, it was invaluable. A very worthwhile and informative event, with the added benefit of the opportunity to network with fellow fire colleagues.”

There will be further opportunities to gen up on the RRFSO, courtesy of CIF – on September 25, Coventry, coinciding with Timber Expo,  and 25 November in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
