Chiltern International Fire (CIF) and BM TRADA Certification are launching a new training day, ‘Passive Fire Protection Explained’. The driver, said Chief Operating Officer Jon Osborn, is to address ‘a perception within the fire industry that there is a lack of understanding of passive fire protection (PFP) amongst those whose day- to-day roles bring them into contact with this important issue, especially in the light of recent fire tragedies and the responsibilities placed upon individuals under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order’.
The course, to be held on Thursday 26 May and Thursday 27 October 2011 at CIF’s High Wycombe headquarters, will help ‘promote the need for correctly tested, assessed, installed and certified PFP products in building practices’, Mr Osborn added. Combining technical presentations with live fire demonstrations, the day is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of:
- The importance of PFP
- PFP products and how they work
- PFP responsibility and legislation
- The principles behind PFP testing, assessments and certification.
The course is aimed at local authorities, housing associations, building contractors, facilities/estates managers, fire stopping installation companies, electrical & plumbing contractors, architects, building control inspectors and students of fire engineering. Delegate fees for ‘Passive Fire Protection Explained’ are £340.00 + VAT (TRADA members) and £375+ VAT (non-members). To book email training@chilternfire.co.uk.
