Chiltern International Fire, working closely with sister companies Chiltern Dynamics and BM TRADA Certification, all part of the BM TRADA Group, has revised its Technical Information Sheet CE Marking – Doors and Windows.
CE marking is the preferred method to prove compliance with the Construction
Products Directive (CPD), which in turn is a legal requirement for manufacturers to
place their products on the market in Europe. Chiltern International Fire and BM TRADA are Notified Bodies for providing the necessary testing and certification to CE mark doorsets, windows and glass.
The CPD requires products to demonstrate:
- Appropriate performance for end-use, based on testing (initial type testing and audit testing with certain product types)
- Consistent manufacture - based on factory production control (initial and on-going inspection)
The new Technical Information Sheet TI-1007: CE Marking - Doors and Windows sets out clearly 'who does what' to prepare for CE marking and provides a handy checklist, as well as summarising what a factory production control system should cover and listing the product standards for doors, windows and glass.
