We offer specially designed fire services training facilities for carbonaceous, live fire training that were set up in conjunction with UK Fire & Rescue services to comply with FBU requirements.

The facility was originally developed as part of a research project conducted by Tyne & Wear Metropolitan Fire Brigade to establish and monitor the changing internal environment during deployment of PPV.

Chiltern International Fire has worked closely with Buckinghamshire Fire & Research Service to further develop the facility as a training centre that meets the Brigade's PPV training requirements.  DO Brian Dugdale, who coordinated Bucks' PPV, CFBT and BA implementation, commented:

"The facilities offered by Chiltern International Fire offered us a unique opportunity to develop and refine our PPV operational procedures in a situation where they are most likely to be needed".

Since the facility was set up, we have provided over 600 fire services training days for Fire & Rescue Services, military brigades and private industrial companies wanting to complete training in the following areas:

  • Compartment Fire Behaviour Training (CFBT) – demonstration and control of fire gases using water cooling techniques
  • Breathing Apparatus Training – familiarisation with wearing and the use of Breathing Apparatus and association techniques
  • PPV defensive – deployment and application of defensive Positive Pressure Ventilation techniques to clear smoke from the building post fire extinction.
  • PPV aggressive – deployment and application of aggressive Positive Pressure Ventilation techniques in a building prior to fire extinction
  • Instructor refresher days using unfamiliar training units
  • 3 year BA refresher for office / back room staff

In addition to Fire Services Training, we have considerable experience in fire behaviour and fire research projects.  Working in collaboration with Fire & Rescue Services, we have conducted over 15 fire behaviour research days.  We have also provided the venue and facilities for the Fire Services to witness live trials of new fire fighting technologies prior to purchase.
