| Chiltern Fire creates all encompassing fire behaviour section |
|
Chiltern Fire has extended its on site training facilities for fire services and works closely with Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and most recently Hertfordshire services, providing Compartment Fire Behaviour, Positive Pressure Ventilation, Hot Smoke Ventilation and Breathing Apparatus training facilities, using live or carbonaceous fires to creating ‘real life’ situations. In addition, it is recognised as an industry leader in large-scale fire research and testing. Mr Howard said, ‘Clients come to us with a variety of problems to be solved. We work with them to structure a test programme to meet their needs and we have facilities to accommodate them which are unique in the UK.’ A third aspect of the new section is reaction to fire, the measurement of how a material or system will contribute to the fire development and spread. A wide range of products may be tested, including walls and ceilings, roof lights, glazing and light diffusers. Mark Cummings has been promoted to head up the Fire Resistance section, while Peter Barker continues as head of Consultancy. All three section leaders will report to Chief Operating Officer Jon Osborn. The restructuring, said Mr Osborn, ‘enables us to focus very clearly on the different needs of clients in these distinct areas. Chiltern Fire has more than 30 years’ experience in all aspects of fire and the range of services we can now provide is unrivalled.’ Click here for PDF. |
