Chiltern Dynamics’ Energy Services Department has enjoyed strong demand for its ‘Air Tightness Testing Explained’ training days, with only limited places left on its September and November events.

According to energy department head Tom Gregory, ‘Clients have been concerned about air tightness testing, which became mandatory in April last year, under Part L requirements for dwellings and large commercial buildings. Our training formula of combining theory with a practical demonstration, using our own on site test house, has proven very successful.’

‘Air Tightness Testing Explained’ days will be held at Chiltern Dynamics’ High Wycombe headquarters on 13th September and 13th November, to explain the principles, process and practicalities of air tightness testing. Aimed at building contractors, quantity surveyors, building control and approved inspectors, the day’s programme will cover:

• The importance of air tightness
• Revisions to Part L regarding air tightness
• Testing requirements for buildings
• The testing procedure and process
• Good practice
• Common failure points

The company can also take the training course out onto site, to demonstrate to builders and developers how straightforward it can be to pass the test. ‘By taking the training course out to them and running a benchmark test on site, we have enabled clients to "feel" the difference between a pass and fail,’ Mr Gregory added.
