Chiltern International Fire opens office in Ireland

Mark Gannon - Chiltern Fire's Irish RepresentativeChiltern International Fire has appointed Mark Gannon as Engineer and Fire Door Consultant, based in Ireland, committed to providing expert fire safety services to the Irish construction industry. One of his first aims is to be able to offer ‘Fire Doors Explained’ training days for architects, joiners, builders, contractors and other professionals.

As he explained, ‘ Fire doors have a critical role to play in any building, both in saving lives and in protecting the fabric of the building. It is our experience that ideally the fire doorset should be built as a unit by companies properly qualified to do so and there is growing concern in Ireland that the highest standards should be achieved.’

Chiltern Fire is an independent fire test laboratory near High Wycombe in the UK, offering a range of supporting services, including product assessments and testing for weather, security, energy and service life. The company has been running regular ‘Fire Doors Explained Days’ for several years. The events combine an effective mix of technical content and practical demonstration and after each seminar there is clear demand for a further event – as the first event in Ireland last month would testify.

Mark Gannon said, ‘We have adapted the training package to deliver it in house or in several key locations in Ireland. We have a DVD of the key stages of a full test, which will give a valuable insight into performance aspects.’

Chiltern Fire is already working on several prestigious projects - providing both fire engineering and fire door consultancy – including the innovative West Park Shannon Business Centre in the West of Ireland.

Mark is also experienced in energy management and is working with clients keen to steal a march on competitors before the Building Energy Rating requirements are introduced in January next year.
